about

Here is the fourth, and most likely the last album from the „Oldies but…“ series.

Beginning of 1994 I was asked by WDR Cologne to play the final concert of the „Tastentanz“ series, taking place in the Art Museum of Bielefeld Germany across seven separate dates.
All six previous concerts presented programs of classical music of diverse dance genres.
My task was to create a program of improvisations based on the themes of classical music, employing dance genres as well.
I decided to extend the program by adding a few existing tunes of mine which definitely fit the bill.
They are mixed with the pieces based on J.S.Bach (Partita #1 B-flat major), F.Chopin (Mazurka op. 24 #2), Joh. Brahms (Valses op. 39) and S. Prokofiev (Folkdance from „Romeo and Julia“ op.75).
I also threw in a South-Indian classic „Mallari“ for a good measure.
